LEVIT & JAMES ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF
BEST AUTHORITY 2.0

New Version of Table of Authority Production Software
Presents New Features and Improved Interface, Accuracy and Speed

June 1, 2007Leesburg, VA... Levit & James, Inc. has released Best Authority 2.0, a major upgrade to Best Authority, its software for producing a Table of Authority (TOA).  Since its release in June 2006, Best Authority has been adopted by more than 80 law firms, including 12 members of the AmLaw 100.

With Version 2.0, Best Authority users will notice a greatly enhanced citation-recognition engine, as well as many new features which increase the processing speed and the flexibility in TOA formats.  In addition, a new Wizard interface and reorganized menus significantly reduce training time.

“A legal brief can have hundreds of citations, and litigation staffs are under enormous pressure to create the TOA quickly,” said Fletcher James, President of Levit & James. “With Best Authority, customers have reported enormous time savings and the new 2.0 version will increase speed even more.”

Heather Morrow, Senior Learning Coordinator/Course Developer of Loeb and Loeb said, “I am a big fan of Best Authority, having come from an environment where we had to mark every cite. A brief that once would have taken me 2-plus hours to mark, I can now do in 15 minutes.”

Mr. James continued, “Our clients suggested many of the 12 new features that we incorporated into Version 2.0. For example, customers in Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Kentucky told us that they needed to combine a Table of Authorities into a Table of Contents -- this is sometimes called a summary statement of ‘Points and Authorities.’ Best Authority 2.0 can create this for them automatically, saving them an hour or two of work per document.”

Charlotte Bledsoe, Training Coordinator at Texas-based law firm Hughes & Luce LLP, noted, “The ability to individually customize and format the Tables of Authorities puts Best Authority in a league of its own.”

Why Best Authority is Unique

Unlike other TOA-building products, Best Authority guides users every step of the way through the production process. Best Authority starts by scanning the document and automatically marking all the citations.  A draft of the TOA can be checked before it is built, using extensive reviewing and editing tools to assist with revisions. These tools include having the citations automatically marked and identified by type of citation with color.  “Suspect” fragments are also easily identified with a specific color so they can be reviewed and corrected. This process is aided by a split-screen interface, so the user can readily compare each TOA citation to its counterpart in the original brief. Perhaps best of all, all revisions to citations or to the TOA are permanent, and will remain no matter how many times the document is revised and re-scanned.

Best Authority makes the work faster and easier, no matter how many people are involved with the TOA, or how the workflow is organized.

Best Authority 2.0 supports versions of Word from 2000 to Word 2003.  Word 2007 integration will be released in July 2007.  The cost is $300 for a single author license, with volume discounts available.
