Levit & James Releases Best Authority

Software Automates the Building of Tables of Authorities in Legal Documents

Leesburg, VA (June 10, 2006) - Levit & James, a provider of software utilities to the legal industry, has announced that it has released Best Authority. Best Authority is an add-in for Microsoft Word that automatically marks citations and quickly builds a Table of Authorities (TOA) in a legal document.

Best Authority takes the daunting, time-consuming task of TOA preparation and simplifies it. Creating a TOA for a complex brief, that used to take several hours to prepare, can now be completed in less than half the time, resulting in an almost immediate return on investment.

Best Authority employs an advanced-technology text-mining engine that identifies legal citations in a document and saves the results in the document using native Word features. Unique to Best Authority, a user-friendly wizard interface enables the user to quickly and easily review and modify the results that will be used to build the TOA. Any edits need only be done once, no matter how many times the document is scanned for citations. Best Authority then builds the final Table of Authorities in the document. TOA formatting is easily customized to meet the needs of any attorney or court.
