To start CrossEyes, just click on the CrossEyes Icon on the Word toolbar. This will instantly open a window at the bottom of your document, which shows all of the codes (objects) in your document, in-line with text.
Each category of coding is shown in its own color. For example, paragraph formatting, font attributes, paragraph styles, etc. In fact, CrossEyes is the only way you can view the cell address in a Word document! The graphic below illustrates some of the important coding revealed by CrossEyes.
All five of the “quick brown fox” paragraphs have the EXACT same words. This is clearly not obvious from the WYSIWYG display in Word. With CrossEyes you see everything instantly. Without CrossEyes, how long would it take you to figure out what was the same and what was different in each paragraph?
Word and WordPerfect® have very different ways of formatting text. In WordPerfect, you add or delete coding, such as bold or underline. In Word, you never delete codes (with a few exceptions); instead you change the values of a code. With CrossEyes, this is remarkably simple to see and change. Just click on any of the color-coded attributes in the CrossEyes Window, and you will launch a feature in Word used to edit those settings. In the example below, we have clicked on the BOLD attribute, which will bring up the Word font formatting choices.
